People’s Liberation Army Cabbage Strategy

The PLA Cabbage Strategy is a fascinating and concerning military doctrine used by China in contested maritime areas. The Cabbage Strategy was first named by Rear Admiral Zhang Zhaozhong of the People's Liberation Army Navy and involves surrounding contested islands with successive layers of Chinese naval ships, China Coast Guard ships, and fishing boats to cut off the island from outside support - wrapping it "layer by layer like a cabbage"
