REAL-TIME KINEMATICS GPS
Real-Time Kinematics (RTK) GPS is a precision positioning technology that provides centimeter-level accuracy, compared to standard GPS which typically offers meter-level accuracy. RTK uses a fixed base station at a known location that calculates positioning errors by comparing its known position with GPS satellite readings. It then transmits correction data to nearby mobile receivers (rovers) via radio or cellular links. The rover applies these corrections in real-time, achieving positioning accuracy of 1-3 centimeters horizontally and 2-5 centimeters vertically.
