TERRAIN REFERENCED NAVIGATION OF DRONES

Terrain Referenced Navigation (TRN) is a navigation technique used in drone technology that determines position by comparing real-time terrain measurements with pre-stored digital terrain maps. TRN operates by using onboard sensors (typically radar altimeters, LIDAR, or barometric altimeters) to measure the terrain profile beneath the drone as it flies. This real-time terrain "signature" is then compared against a database of stored digital elevation models (DEMs) or terrain maps to determine the drone's precise location.
